IPTV on an Android TV Box: Setup in 10 Minutes

In this guide

How do I set up IPTV on an Android TV box?

Install an IPTV player app, open it and sign in. On Android TV and Google TV boxes, search Google Play for Axon Player (or another IPTV player), install it, choose Xtream Codes and type the server, username and password we send. If the app is not in your box’s store, install it with the Downloader app using code 7362822.

    What you need

    • An Android TV or Google TV box (Shield, onn, BuzzTV, Formuler, Chromecast with Google TV and others)
    • Your Xtream Codes login or M3U link
    • A network cable or strong Wi-Fi

    Route 1: Google Play

    1. Open Google Play (Apps › Search on Google TV).
    2. Search “Axon Player” and install it.
    3. Open the app, choose Xtream Codes and sign in.

    Route 2: Downloader

    1. Install Downloader from the store.
    2. Settings › Apps › Security (or Device preferences › Security & restrictions) › allow Unknown sources for Downloader only.
    3. Open Downloader, type code 7362822 and install the app.
    4. Switch the Unknown sources permission off again.

    Settings that help live TV

    • Use a network cable if the box has an Ethernet port.
    • Display: set the resolution to your TV’s (usually 4K 60 Hz); turn on frame-rate matching if the box offers it.
    • Free up storage: clear the cache of apps you do not use.

    Android box questions

Is an unbranded Android box OK?

It can work, but boxes without Google certification often lack updates. A known brand is safer.

    Which app is best?

We recommend Axon Player (14 days free, then paid). Box-specific apps (MyTVOnline, BuzzTV) work too.
